Ontario PNP is Employer driven which means that you can only apply if your employer is pre-screened, position is approved, and your employer provides you with a nominee application package from the Pilot PNP.
Ontario employers must first complete the Pre-screening application process and must obtain approval for the positions they wish to fill before nominating applicants.
Employers must obtain approval for the positions they intend to fill under the “Employer Category” of the Pilot PNP in Ontario. This is called the Employer Category pre-screen application process.
Employers must meet the following criteria:

- Have at least $1,000,000 gross revenue in the previous fiscal year;
- Have at least five permanent full-time employees;

The Employer Category comprises of 3 main streams:

- The Skilled Worker Stream consists of 10 occupations in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
- The International Graduate Stream targets those recent graduates who are qualified to work in the above-mentioned 20 occupations. The program focuses on retaining international students, graduating from Ontario universities and colleges.
In order to be eligible as a Nominee under the Ontario Pilot PNP, applicants must have a permanent, full-time job offer, for which they are qualified, from an approved Ontario employer in an eligible occupation in any one of the three streams of the Employer Category.
The Pilot PNP will let Ontario to have a role in the selection of its own newcomers by facilitating the immigration of professionals in health care, education, manufacturing, and construction sectors for jobs that are currently facing labor shortages. Successful nominees who meet all Pilot PNP requirements will be given a “Letter of Nomination” from the province of Ontario for permanent residence as Provincial Nominees.
The Nominated individuals will then include this letter with their immigration application and then apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada which consecutively carries out application processing including medical and background admissibility checks in order to issue work permits or permanent residence to applicants.
Potential nominees are only eligible to apply if they have a valid job offer and are qualified in one of the 20 occupations listed below: |
